Open Volunteer Roles

Shoes Off exists for the Asian Australian community. We are a community organised podcast and do not make a profit, so all roles are for those who are willing to give their time as a way of giving back to the community.

Reporters & writers

Are you an established or aspiring writer or journalist who has a passion for Asian Australian issues? Do you have interesting stories to share, and great people to talk to? This is your chance to get your voice out there - either in podcast form or written form.

For the podcast

Working collaboratively with the founder of Shoes Off, you will be able to bring your story to life. You’ll be mentored in the podcasting process, from recording interviews to writing an episode, and you’ll be able to include this as part of your personal portfolio of works.

You’ll be required to pitch your idea and potential interviewees, then (if you haven’t already), conduct the interviews. With structural help, you’ll write and revise the episode, and then record our tracks (the bits we’ve written). You’ll then give your notes on the edit.

In short, I want to develop you to produce compelling, interesting stories in audio form.

I won’t lie, this takes time. But if you’re willing to put in the effort, I promise you what we end up with will be great.

For the blog

This is a great platform to tell Asian Australian stories. You’ll be able to pitch ideas, conduct interviews (if necessary) and include this as part of your personal portfolio.
